WELCOME TO THE ZONTA CLUB
OF BOWLING GREEN, OHIO HOME PAGE

Chartered in 1999, the Zonta Club of Bowling Green area is made up of professional and business women.  The club is part of Zonta International and shares their goals.  The Bowling Green area club acts on the local level to promote and enhance the status of women in their community as well as worldwide.

The Bowling Green area club sponsors annual scholarships for non-traditional women students.  Applications for this scholarship are awarded in the spring.  More information about the application process is available under the “Scholarship Application” link. The club engages in fundraising activity throughout the year to have money available for the scholarship fund. The two main annual fundraising activities are selling Mixed Nuts in November and December and the Summer Solstice Wine Tasting event held in June.

The Bowling Green area club also sponsors an annual "Girls with Goals" program to introduce new ideas and expand opportunities for girls and young women as they plan their future.

The Bowling Green area club members are also active in other service and community projects throughout the year

2006 Scholarship Award Winners

After receiving a qualified and competitive pool of applicants for the 2006 Academic Year, the Zonta Scholarship Committee selected three very deserving finalist for interviews. The Committee recommended that these finalists were deserving of scholarship monies to apply to their 2006-2007 academic pursuits.  The Scholarship winners were:

Olga Baker, of Wayne, Ohio, is aspiring for a Doctor of Nursing Practice or Nurse Practitioner degree through the Medical University of Ohio.  Olga’s ultimate goal is to specialize in pediatrics or neonatology in order to make a difference in the health of children.  Olga was awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1,100.

Suzanne (Susan) Schooner, a Grand Rapids, Ohio resident, is an honors student at Owens Community College.  Her career goal is to work in the field of biomedical instrumentation, a challenging field of study which involves the repair and calibration of medical equipment, in order to make a difference in others’ health and well being.  Susan was provided a scholarship award that will defray up to $1,000 in educational costs.
